Your choice? Commit a tiny sin... or accept great suffering because you refuse to commit that tiny sin?

What would be your choice?

Preacher David Murray summarizes some key points made by Puritan Thomas Manton in his long-ago sermon about Moses in Hebrews 11:25:

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God,
than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season...

All 15 points were zingers... but two in particular stepped on my toes:
  1. To suffer is not in our choice, but to sin, that is in our choice. Afflictions are inflicted, sins are committed.
  2. Sin separates us from God, but suffering and affliction doesn’t, and therefore the greatest affliction is to be chosen before the least sin.
To read all Pastor Murray's review of all 15 things Manton calls his listeners [readers] to consider at they muse on choosing sin or suffering, head on over to HeadHeartHand: Informing Minds, Moving Hearts, Directing Hands.  Your toes might end up a little sore... or a lot, like mine... but I think you'll appreciate the challenge.
